March marks the beginning of springtime magic with the Vernal Equinox and St Patrick’s Day. Let’s celebrate by including at least one green ingredient in our dishes. Asparagus and leafy greens are in season, dandelion greens and mints are popping up in the yard, and we’ve got lots of ingredients in storage or trucked in such as all sorts of peas, green beans, kelp, pumpkin seeds, pistachios, zucchini, broccoli, spinach, collards, artichokes, kale, spinach, scallions, celery, leeks, okra, fennel, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, green bell peppers, kiwis, limes, avocados, cucumbers, spirulina, olives, etc. Please add more below! Let’s also celebrate “going green” by treading lighter on the planet, looking for more locally, and creating less waste.
We’re also having a bake sale! Bring a reusable to-go container because you are definitely going to want to take home some goodies!!
The purpose of this event is to make (or purchase) a new or favorite dish to share with others, get together and socialize with other like-minded folks, and enjoy small samples of the yummy vegan dishes everyone else brings. Please bring a good amount of food to share and extra if you’re bringing children or there’s more than one person in your party.
Bring a list of ingredients along with your dish (or even better, the recipe!) Remember: this is a vegan safe-space event and DISHES MUST BE 100% VEGAN, with no meat, no fish, no milk, no butter, no eggs, no chicken stock, no honey, and so on. Please ask if you have any questions. Please also bring YOUR OWN UTENSILS, BOWL, PLATE and drink. This is a 100% WASTE-FREE EVENT which means we are not generating any trash – please bring only reusable items, no paper or plastic. Alcohol is permitted.
Our potlucks take place the FOURTH SUNDAY of every month (except Nov & Dec) at 5:30pm at the Kitchen & Lounge Community Building at South Front Apartments. Use the gate located on Greenfield Street at 2nd Street, across the street from Satellite Bar. PARKING: Drive straight in all the way to the end of the road and turn right to find parking. Parking is permitted only in the spaces without numbers. After parking, walk over to the lounge located at the center of the complex. The lounge entrance is on the opposite side (facing Front St).
